2008 ABSA Honor Awards
Requirements for the nominators and nominees are:
- The nominee must be a current member of ABSA (except for the John H. Richardson Special Recognition Award) or eligible for emeritus
membership;
- An individual may not receive the same award twice;
- Self nomination is prohibited;
- Nominators must be members of ABSA;
- Nominees who are not chosen for an award in the year in which they are nominated will be reconsidered for up to two additional years.
The Awards Committee Chair will request, as appropriate, updates of the nominees'documentation from the nominators; and
- Members of the Council or Awards Committee are not eligible to receive an award in the year in which they are serving.
Documents required for nomination include:
- A completed nominating form, including a detailed evaluation of the nominee's outstanding contributions to the field, as detailed
in the award description and on the nomination form; and
- A minimum of three and a maximum of five letters of support must be submitted for each nomination.
Arnold G. Wedum Distinguished Achievement Award
The Arnold G. Wedum Distinguished Achievement Award is given to a CURRENT ABSA member
for outstanding contributions to biological safety accomplished through teaching, research, service, or leadership.

John H. Richardson Special Recognition Award
The John H. Richardson Special Recognition Award was developed to recognize an individual
for a specific contribution that has enhanced the American Biological Safety Association and/or the profession of biosafety.
