The University of Puerto Rico at Humacao (UPRH) is an undergraduate institution with approximately 4300 students. The institution has strong programs in applied sciences and mathematics. The ADVANCE Program at the UPRH is implementing the following activities: Research support for faculty participants; A mentoring program for women faculty involving women senior scientists; Research to understand the causes and consequences of the high participation of women students in science in the UPR-Humacao to develop strategies that can be used by other institutions; Collect baseline data on the status of women faculty at UPR-H; Training for faculty on gender related issues and how to advance in academic positions; Training for administrators as to improve gender equality and diversity; Revise procedures to recruit and promote women, develop and implement an Action Plan to increase the participation and advancement of women faculty. A multidisciplinary Coordinating Committee is collaborating in the implementation and promotion of the program. |
