Paper Title:

How to Capitalize on Where We Are: A Panel Discussion

Date & Time:

06/11/03  09:45

Abstract:

The structure, staffing, and funding of women in engineering/science programs varies dramatically across institutions. Each institution has its own unique culture, and program structures that work in one may not work in another. However, there may be benefits to the lessons learned from other programs having different structures. This panel presentation will have a small group representing a variety of program structures share their perspectives of the challenges and benefits of their existing structure, staffing, and funding and how they leverage their current situation to improve their programs. Results of a wepan-l survey will be presented, each panel member will share some of the keys to success, struggles, and leverage opportunities that they have seen with their programs. An interactive session/discussion will follow. Rather than focus on specific programs or projects, we hope to spark participants to share, benchmark, and leverage information about broader issues.
