Paper Title: |
Corporate Recruiting for Women in Engineering-Planning for Success |
Date & Time: |
06/09/03 02:00 |
Abstract: |
This workshop is for engineering employers/corporate representatives. Though we have all spent time on a college campus, keeping pace with the realities, perceptions, and issues facing women engineering students in the transition to a full time working environment is difficult. Navigating the college/university system--determining the most appropriate "partners" and how to interacting with them effectively – is also challenging.
With more than 50 years of combined experience in corporate/college relations, George Brewster (Corning, Inc. retired) and Jane Daniels (Purdue University, retired) will lead participants in a two hour workshop to develop their individualized plan for recruiting women from college to work and retaining them. Participants will learn about the engineering profession, women in engineering, and best practices for college relations. Then they will be led in developing an effective plan based on an understanding of their company culture, the college climate, the role of Women in Engineering Programs and the Society of Women Engineers. |
